President Mohamed Morsy flew to New York Monday morning to head the Egyptian delegation, which is participating in the 67th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

Foreign Minister Mohamed Kamel Amr is accompanying Morsy on his four-day visit.

Morsy will express Egypt’s stance on regional developments, particularly the situation in Syria and the Middle East peace process, and tackle developments in the country since the 25 January revolution.

Morsy is also scheduled to meet several world leaders and discuss ways to reinforce cooperation.

Egypt’s permanent envoy to the UN, Moataz Ahmadein Khalil, said several leaders asked to meet Morsy, adding that Morsy is expected to meet with French President Francois Hollande, British Prime Minister David Cameron and other leaders.

Soon after he arrives Monday, Morsy will hold meetings with five world leaders and then have an interview with the US-based CBS news channel, visit the headquarters of the Egyptian delegation to the UN and then meet several religious leaders as part of an ongoing dialogue between religions.

On Tuesday, Morsy will attend the morning and afternoon General Assembly sessions, and will also hold several meetings with world leaders and UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon.

Morsy will deliver Egypt’s speech at the morning session for the General Assembly Wednesday and then attend the afternoon session, which will be dedicated to general discussion. He will hold several meetings with world leaders and delegations afterward.

The president will end his visit to New York by meeting with members of the Egyptian community in the US, before leaving Wednesday afternoon and arriving in Cairo Thursday morning.
